The Brazilian Football Association has asked FIFA to block their national players from featuring in the Premier League this weekend after they failed to turn up for their respective international call ups. Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Leeds United will all be affected.

Before the international break, Premier League clubs voted to prevent their players from traveling for matches held in countries that are on the UK’s red list as any player who travelled to a red list country during the international break would be required to isolate for a 10-day period at a hotel once they returned to the UK (which meant they would miss up to two weeks of football for their respective clubs).

Brazil’s FA has now made a move to stop the players who were not allowed to travel to South America from playing in the Premier League for the next round of fixtures.

This action means that about 8 premier league stars won’t be on show this weekend. The likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino (Liverpool Brazilian trio), Fred (Manchester United), Thiago Silva (Chelsea), Raphinha (Leeds United), Gabriel Jesus and Ederson (Manchester City). Meanwhile Alisson, Fabinho, Firmino, Fred, Thiago Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Ederson will also be unavailable for their club’s champions league matches next week as the decision covers 10-14 September.
