Chelsea and Aston Villa have confirmed an agreement has been reached for the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 18-year-old, who had less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Villa Park, is now set to become the Blues’ third summer signing after the capture of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Club statement from Villa reads: “Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka.
“The 18-year-old has been given permission to travel to London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical.”
Chelsea also confirmed the news on Twitter.
The highly-rated teenager has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa in recent months because of his contract situation.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a dream summer, starring for England Under-19s in their European Championship success and scoring twice in the final against Israel.
Villa wanted to keep the England Under-19 international, but there was loads of interest from all across Europe.
Chelsea have seemingly won the race to sign the talented teenager ahead of Barcelona and AC Milan, and the youngster is expected to go into their development squad for the upcoming season.
