Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is not going to join a Premier League club in the summer.

The 25-year-old Danish defender is out of contract, and is likely to leave the Blues when this season concludes.

However, Fabrizio Romano suggests that Christensen has too much respect for Chelsea to sign for a rival on a free transfer.

Now Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has offered a further update as speculation mounts that Barcelona are ready to swoop for both Christensen and Azpilicueta on a free.

He tweeted: “Andreas Christensen won’t consider any proposal from Premier League clubs to respect Chelsea. Barcelona and FC Bayern are both interested in signing him since January – still in talks.

“Barca have approached both Azpilicueta and Christensen. No full agreement yet.”

He is being linked to Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and other clubs in Europe.

Romano suggests both of those clubs are talking with Christensen’s representatives, but no deal is agreed.

It has been claimed elsewhere that Christensen informed Chelsea ‘several months ago’ that he has no intention of renewing his contract.

As a result, Christensen has received big offers from several Premier League sides, as well as German champions Bayern Munich.

But Barcelona believe they can tempt him to the Nou Camp on a lucrative long-term deal.
