Tuttosport have announced the shortlist of the final 20 players who are in the running to win the 2021 Golden Boy award, and Borussia Dortmund duo Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna have both been included. The Golden Boy award is given to the best performing U-21 player playing in Europe ever year.
Previous winners of the award include Wayne Rooney (2004), Lionel Messi (2005), Sergio Aguero (2007), Kylian Mbappe (2017) and in 2020, Erling Haaland.
In June, 100 names were published, with the list being trimmed to 40 last month, and today, 20 names has been shortlisted in the final list to be voted on.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland won the Golden Boy award last year. And Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna are among the top contenders to win the award this time around on the back of their stellar seasons.
Some of the other players in contention to win the 2021 Golden Boy award include Pedri (FC Barcelona), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Karim Adeyemi (RB Salzburg), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) and Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen).
