Newcastle have agreed a fee in excess of £20m with Arsenal to sign Joe Willock on a permanent basis. Personal terms still need to be finalised so deal not yet done (according to the athletic UK).
The Arsenal midfielder enjoyed a sensational loan spell at Newcastle after signing in the January transfer window, notching eight goals during his time with the Magpies. This form prompted the Newcastle board to make Willock their number one target for the summer.
The midfielder was left out of Sunday’s pre-season friendly at Tottenham, with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta saying: “We will explain the reasons when we can.”
The fee from Newcastle will boost Arsenal chances of signing other target (maybe Maddison) as they will have fresh funds available to them. Maddison is said to be open to the idea of joining the gunners but it remains to be seen if the gunners can come up with a tempting fee that Leicester will accept.
