Barcelona star Pedri has been rewarded for his stunning exploits for club and country, as he is named the 2021 Golden Boy recipient.
The prize, presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and won Erling Haaland last year, is given to the best player aged 21 or under from a top-tier league in Europe.
After months of deliberation and voting, Tuttosport — the newspaper that hands out the awards — has officially announced Pedri as the winner! He will collect the award on December 13th in Turin, Italy.
Spain international Pedri – the leading contender – graced Monday’s front page of Tuttosport after beating the likes of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala, Gio Reyna and Eduardo Camavinga to the award.
All of these players have had brilliant individual seasons, and are among the first names on the team sheet for their respective clubs. Bellingham and Greenwood are staples for their respective clubs while Gavi has burst on to the scene with immense potential.
Camavinga earned himself a move to Madrid, while Wirtz already has four goals and six assists in ten games in the Bundesliga.
Pedri follows the footstep of Club Legend Lionel Messi in winning this award as the Argentinian Forward was the one and only Barcelona player to win the award when he did that in 2005.
